Autumn had arrived. The chill in the air, their breath catching, holding still for a moment under streetlights.
"I missed this," he said, softly.
"You know? Me too." She wrapped their arms, held his hand between hers. "I missed it being just us. Classes --" she made a pffffffff sound, lips vibrating. They both chuckled in the cold.
He grinned, said: "But, I meant the weather. Long coats."
She punched him in the ribs, head butted his shoulder."Whatever."
"Whatever? Whatever." Came his practiced retort --he ruffled her hair.
They kissed at a crosswalk for three rotations and one helpfully honking car horn.
